Alternately, you may register ThumbsUp on-line on Compuserve by 'GO SWREG'.
The registration ID for ThumbsUp is 1357. Only single-user copies may be
registered this way (though you can register multiple single-user copies).
By registering, you will receive:
o A user code to register your copy of ThumbsUp.
o A floppy containting the next version of ThumbsUp when it is
released.
o Product support by telephone, e-mail or post.
An order form and additional information are available in the ThumbsUp
online help. Select "Ordering" from the "Help" menu.
LAST MINUTE NOTES
-----------------
.CDR (CorelDRAW!) format was a last minute addition, and has been tested
only on the version 3 CD-ROM, which was completely scanned. Only a few
Version 4 files have been tested. Note that the ".PAT" files (vector
patterns) distributed by Corel are also CDR format. To thumbnail these,
add the .PAT extension to the "File Types" dialog box. ThumbsUp can only
access the small built-in thumbnail (preview) in CDR files. The drawing
itself is stored in Corel's proprietary format. Because of this, no
support is planned for CDR drawings themselves. (Which is a pity, since
ThumbsUp makes much better thumbnails than CorelDRAW!)
REMOVE TREE (from the Thumbnail Menu), which is supposed to remove all
thumbnails in a directory tree, is broken and will be fixed in an upcoming
release.
VOLUME LABELS: In order to provide off-line viewing, ThumbsUp uses volume
labels, rather than disk names, to discriminate between different disks.
Make sure your floppies have unique volume labels.
PROBLEMS CORRECTED IN 1.3C
--------------------------
o No longer shows "expired" when first loaded (keeps track of days)
o Directory list displays drives in drive order (rather than label)
o Volume labels are no longer used for local hard drives
o "Save window pos" menu item corrected to "save position & database"
o Faster directory list display
o Windows colors are now correct after minimizing full-screen
256-color image on 256-color displays
o View window no longer shows "select" cursor when image is stretched
o Drag-and-drop from File Manager is fixed (drag to view files)
o Catalog-printing progress indicicator is correct, and window doesn't
disappear when not using Print Manager.
o Latest JPEG library (4a) has been incorporated into ThumbsUp.
o The Help file is now distributed as a separate file, and no longer
contained within the .EXE. Its name was also changed to THUMBSUP.HLP
o GP faults fixed:
- Loading incomplete or invalid GIF files
- Loading some 256-color RLE encoded PCX files
- Loading some small 16- and 256-color RLE BMP files
- Slide show with short delay using filtered files
- While or after printing images
- Added sanity check when reading index to avoid index-related GP faults
- Added sanity check when purging and rebuilding index to avoid GP faults
RESTRICTIONS AND KNOWN PROBLEMS
-------------------------------
o Duplicate disk labels for network drives still confuse ThumbsUp. A future
version will use the entire network connection information, but this will
necessitate a change in the database structure.
o The "Remove Tree" option on the Thumbnail menu, which is supposed to
remove all thumbnails for the currently selected directory tree, does
not work.
o The Slide Show requires that you select files (using the mouse or
Edit/Select All) before selecting "File/Slide Show" or using F8. This
will be changed in a future release to default to all files in the
current directory if none are selected.
